Hi, I am Jenny. Thanks for checking out my website to see if I am a good fit. My hope is that you feel welcome, comfortable, and validated. Life can be tough, and I will sit with you in a nonjudgmental space to confront whatever you are facing.
I have extensive experience and training in education, mentoring, counseling, and family therapy. My passion is to help individuals and families feel connected, validated, and loved despite the hard stuff that comes their way.
I work diligently with every client, couple, or family that enters my therapeutic space and your therapy will be designed based upon your needs and personality. I am an avid nonfiction reader and stay up to date on information and training that will best suit my clients and increase my abilities to be an effective clinician.
I have a Bachelor's Degree In Interdisciplinary Studies specializing in Early Childhood and Kinesiology. I have worked 15 years in a public school setting as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, and school counselor.
My intense desire to help families in a more direct, supportive way led me to graduate school and family therapy. I have a Master's degree in Education and Counseling. I received both degrees attending Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX. I am from Houston, TX originally.
Although I am highly competent in family therapy and child and adolescent counseling, the majority of my clients are couples. Which I love! I love helping couples work through difficulties in the hopes their marriage can stay intact and thrive. To me, this makes such a difference for the couple, their kids, extended family, and community.
I am widely trained in couple therapy, including Level 3 trained in Gottman Method Couple Therapy. In addition I am trained and utilize Emotionally Focused Therapy and other modalities that are well-researched and I have seen to be effective in my client's lives as well as personally.
I have been married for 31 years and consider that to be my greatest source of knowledge and experience. I am working personally to also have the relationship that I hope my clients can achieve.
Parenting is one of my super powers and I have 4 wonderful kiddos. Our oldest daughter is an Industrial Engineer and has our grand-dog (a Saint Bernard named Teddy), our son attends University of Houston and is finishing a degree in computer engineering and technology, our adopted son spent a few years in the Army, has been attending community college, and is deciding where to complete his degree. Our youngest daughter is in high school and loves to play her trombone and enjoys marching band. Nugget is my sweet golden mix who follows me around wherever I go.
My personal faith is in the Lord Jesus Christ who I believe has called me to minister and love those in need of emotional and relational support. If you would like me to incorporate faith, prayer and/or scripture into our work, I am happy to work at your comfort level.
In my free time I like to puzzle, travel, read, go for walks and ride my bike.
If you have any questions at all or would like a free video or phone consultation, please reach out. Take care.
